Whisky Liqueur
The term refers to the combination of whisky with a distilled sugar-based spirit and it’s a style that
dates back to the 18th century, when the rudimentary distillation equipment and final unpolished
product, needed the addition of other ingredients to enhance and mask unwanted flavours. The use
of honey was highly popular, especially considering the sweetness it adds to the whisky, making it
more palatable.
Nowadays, Whisky liqueurs are a popular choice that can be enjoyed neat, in cocktails, or over ice.
With famous brands like Drambuie or more recent ones like Stag’s Breath and Bruadar. Ingredients
and recipes vary significantly from one distillery to another with new choices always present on the
market. From coffee to chocolate, honey, milk, and many other options, there’s surely one to fit
every palate.
