Description
Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside at the gateway to the Highlands, Tullibardine continues to operate in the traditional way, without modern day computer technology, giving visitors a real insight to the whisky distillation process.
The auburn hue of this whisky comes directly from its time spent in the 228 litre barriques that previously held Pinot Noir from Chateau de Chassagne-Montrachet.
The nose of the 228 features red cherries and vanilla with hints of chocolate and Turkish Delight.
Tullibardine is one of the youngest Scottish distilleries; it was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delmé-Evans and C. I. Barrett.
It is situated in Perthshire and is actually on of the easiest distilleries to visit being further south.
The Tullibardine distillery (which was mothballed in 1994 or '95) is purchased by a group of businessmen with experience in the whisky industry, including Michael Beamish and Doug Ross.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Spiced with notes of red berry fruit, delicious vanilla and toasted oak.
Palate: A creamy and nutty entry with notes of sweet custard, apple peel, more red berries and sweetness from orange blossom honey.
