Description
Named after the most spectacular beach on Islay, Machir Bay is the flagship of the Kilchoman range.
Sanaig is rocky inlet just north of the distillery and is the name given to our predominantly sherry cask influenced core expression, a vatting of 70% oloroso sherry casks and 30% bourbon barrel
Aged in a combination of oloroso-sherry and bourbon casks, the result is a whisky with an excellent balance between peat smoke and sweet citrus flavours.
Distillery: Kilchoman
Bruichladdich, Scotland
Founded in 2005, Kilchoman was the first new distillery to be built on Islay in over 124 years. Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder, set out to resurrect the grass roots tradition of farm distilling.
A 100% Islay range represents the revival of those traditions, standing alone as Islay’s only Single Farm Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Pineapple chunks and white grapes. Hints of fresh coffee carry the earthy, subtly spicy peat. Toffee cubes.
Palate: More light fruits (this time of the peach variety), with dark chocolate raisins and a whisper of red berries. Peat grows and grows, with a little black pepper too.
Finish: Quite long with coastal peat lasting.
