Description
Glenfarclas unveils its most mature whisky to date with the release of the Glenfarclas 70-Year-Old, a rare single malt distilled in 1953 and aged in first-fill sherry casks for seven decades.
This remarkable expression, nurtured through the stewardship of six distillery managers, reflects the enduring traditions of one of Scotland’s last family-owned distilleries.
With only 262 bottles available worldwide, it is a singular release defined by heritage, craftsmanship and rarity.
Rich in character, it reveals complex layers of stewed fruit, dark chocolate, treacle toffee and a whisper of Speyside peat, culminating in a long, satisfying finish.
Encased in understated packaging that honours the distillery’s values of simplicity and integrity, this historic release is bottled 42.9% abv.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Opens with a soft, smooth aroma of stewed fruits and traditional Scottish dumpling. A delicate Speyside peat adds a lightly earthy, smoky nuance, while layers of fruit compote and honeyed malt create a rich aroma.
Palate: Dark chocolate is laced with sherry-soaked dried fruits, giving way to a spicy tingle and a bold note of rich, roasted coffee. The texture is luxurious and full-bodied, coated in treacle toffee.
Finish: The finish is long, satisfying, and evolves, with delicate peat notes gently resurfacing across the tongue with a green, grassy echo.
