Description

A miniature bottle of Glen Mhor 8 Year Old Rare Old Highland Malt Scotch Whisky bottled by Gordon & MacPhail.

The bottling code indicates this was bottled in 1994.

A rare old Highland malt from Glen Mhor Distillery aged for 8 years, bonded and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail Elgin.

Glen Mhor was established in Inverness in 1892 by John MacKinlay and John Birnie, a former distillery manager at Glen Albyn who had left after being refused a share in the distillery by owners Gregory & Co.

The name (pronounced Glen Vawr) means 'Great Glen' and production began in 1894.

Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.

Distillery: Glen Mhor

Muirtown, Scotland

Glen Mhor (pronounced Glen Vawr, or Glen Vhore) means Great Glen, which cuts across Scotland from the northeast to the southwest.

In 1983, sadly the distillery closed its doors where three years later it was demolished. Bottlings show it to be a big, fat and quite muscular malt with a meaty and lightly smoky undertow.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Refreshing apples with plenty more refreshing fruits. In addition, cereals and some spice from pepper.

Palate: Robust, only very little fruit, but some bitter flavours. Cheesecake, roasted malt, peat smoke and a little tarragon.

Finish: Long and many bitter substances, caramel and currants.
