Description

An 18 Year Old annual limited release, has been created using a handpicked selection of first fill and refill ex-bourbon American white oak casks and then finished in responsibly sourced 100% Scottish oak casks.

As this new make spirit evolves in this unique cask duo, it creates balance and brings a beautiful richness and depth to a tropical distillery house character.

According to the press release it celebrates “what makes Fettercairn different”, alluding to the distinctive copper cooling ring distillation as well as their focus on Scottish oak and collaboration with local farmers.

The new Fettercairn 18 Years is bottled at 46.8 percent, natural in colour and non-chill filtered.

Distillery: Fettercairn

Laurencekirk, Scotland

Since 1824 the folks at Fettercairn have gone to extraordinary lengths to capture the purest expression of their whisky’s character.

This wonderful distillery is situated under the Grampian foothills in the Howe of Mearns, with Fettercairn town’s name loosely based on the phrase "the foot of the mountain."

I probably never would have tried this if it weren't for a tasting session, there doesn't seem to be many reviews of fettercairn online so I would have been reluctant to purchase a bottle.
If you're tempted to give it a go but aren't too sure, I will say it has that fruity hit along with the wood and smoke, making it special and underrated.
