Description
This wine is produced on land which has passed from father to son since the 18th Century, but has only been dedicated to wine production since 1966 when André Fontaine took the reins, followed later by his son Vincent, who took over from him 30 years later.
In keeping with Beaujolais tradition, Vincent uses semi-carbonic maceration and the wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel and concrete (which Vincent regards as the ideal vessel for Gamay).
This results in a wine with ripe, soft red berry fruit and violets, with a more profound palate accompanied by supple tannins and a mineral character which speaks to the vineyard's shallow, granitic soils.
Food Pairing - Easy drinking and will pair well with roast chicken or turkey, pasta, cold meats and mild cheeses.
Tasting Notes
A light-bodied and floral old-vine Beaujolais, brimming with violets, the core fruit profile is led by summer fruits and bright, fresh pomegranate; this may be a juicy wine but still finishes refreshingly, especially when served slightly chilled.
