Description
The unusual name, meaning 'Ford of the Red Stream' in Gailic refers to the Mulben Burn from which the distillery draws its cooling water.
However the principal reason for the siting of the distillery is Dories Well, an abundant source of soft, pure spring water.
Through the smoke and nutty sweetness comes the unmistakeable feel fo Dories silky water followed by a dry, well balanced finish. Auchroisk is pronounced 'Othrusk.'
This 10 years old Auchroisk, formerly known as The Singleton of Auchroisk, is the only official release of this distillery in the Flora & Fauna series of United Distillers and later Diageo.
A series that was discontinued in 2010. This Speyside single malt was released in 2001 and bottled at 43% ABV.
The label of this Auchroisk shows a swallos, just like that of Glen Elgin. The difference is that this one comes from the left.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Light with notes of fruit zest, Anglaise cream and some nutiness with a hint of salt.
Palate: Pretty sweet and soft with notes of mandarin, honey and nuts.
Finish: Soft, long and smoky with dry notes of cereals.
