Description

Another new addition to Arran's core range is this barrel reserve expression!

The brand new Barrel Reserve is a fresh, light and elegant no-age-statement Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

It is 100% matured in Bourbon Barrels and is going to become your go-to dram for every occasion - to be served neat, with ice or in a longer drink or cocktail.

Arran Distillery was commissioned by the Isle of Arran Distillers in 1995 and lies amid stunning scenery just to the south of Lochranza on the northern tip of the Isle of Arran.

This distillery has four stills, dunnage warehouses, a visitor centre offering distillery tours and a distillery café.

Arran distills both un-peated and peated malt spirit and matures its whisky in sherry, bourbon, port and wine casks in order to produce an ever-evolving and expanding range of whiskies including Arran single malts such as Arran Machrie Moor and The Illicit Stills, and Arran blended scotch.

Distillery: Arran

Lochranza, Scotland

Production began at Arran’s first distillery in beautiful Lochranza almost 30 years ago.  Many other locations were considered at the time, but the proximity to Loch na Davie provided a rather special source of fresh water for distilling.

Knowing this would hold up in good stead for years to come, a second distillery opened in the south of the island in 2019 at Lagg, where a very unique style of peated single malt is created.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Beautifully balanced citrus fruit and light vanilla sweetness with a burst of apple and delicate marine notes. Palate: Sweet with a hint of spice and charred oak, citrus and vanilla. Finish: Sweetness continues with the spice.

Distinctive flavour and a delicate floral taste. I usually opt for the 10 year Arran but this has a distinctive quality to it that is rather pleasant on the tastebuds.

Unbelievable taste for the price with a sweet lemon nose, it has a fresh tart taste with a hint of barrel spice.
