Description
Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a classic fruity Highland style of single malt Scotch whisky that is carefully crafted then matured in fine oak casks, and is admired for its rare honeyed notes.
Known as 'The Golden Dram', Aberfeldy is deliciously smooth and easy-drinking, with notes of spice and honeyed plump fruits; syrupy, with lots of vanilla and fudge, and a hint of smoke on the finish.
Aberfeldy single malt whisky has been distilled in the foothills of the Central Highlands of Scotland since 1898; the distillery was founded by the two Dewar brothers - Tommy and John Alexander.
Aberfeldy whisky is best served neat, over ice or mixed in a cocktail - such as the Aberfeldy Gold Fashioned.
Mellowed for 12 years in handmade oak casks, this smooth, sweet dram offers rich rewards for those who like to dig deeper.
Tasting Notes
Nose: The signature honey aroma is still there and intact but a subtle smokiness appears to have developed adding extra depth.
Palate: Busy delivery with the mildly waxy barley having much to say: spice prickle early on followed by some early chocolate toffee.
Finish: Luxuriant mouthfeel, the honey now tends towards the honeycomb variety and the canadian, but still plenty of toffee which hushes proceedings.
