Ardbeg 2011 Single Cask #2198 - 60.2% 70cl

This is a collectable bottling from Ardbeg.

It was distilled in August 2011 and was matured in a 1st fill bourbon barrel until July 2018.I

t was bottled at the natural cask strength of 60.2% ABV.

This is one of just 256 individually numbered bottles produced from cask number 2198.

Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed on and off for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie.

Sitting on the southern coastline of Islay, the current distillery was founded in 1815; the original having been destroyed by excise men.

The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character.
