Description
The Icons of Campbeltown series pays tribute to the Campbeltown community that ensured Glen Scotia prevailed through history.
Taking inspiration from the Campbeltown Market Cross – a historic community meeting point for celebration and storytelling, with a series of saints and beasts carved into its stone face – each release recalls a tale of local community spirit.
Release No.2 takes inspiration from St Michael, backed by an army of supporters, slaying a fire breathing dragon.
Ravenous fires were something of a theme in Campbeltown’s Victorian whisky-making heyday, claiming and laying waste to several of the town’s distilleries.
On December 17th, 1899, Glen Scotia along with heroic community members fought a fierce blaze at Dalintober distillery and saved it from an early fate.
You’ll find no living saints or dragon slayers in Campbeltown, just a community who endures against the odds by virtue of its prevailing spirit of unity.
In celebration of the mythical tale, Glen Scotia Master Blender has chosen this medium peated 14-year-old single malt whisky.
Finished for six months in ex-Barolo red wine casks, creating a whisky full of fiery red fruits.
The smoky character, intertwined with layers of fruit, spice and a subtle maritime salinity, leaves no question of which distillery this limited release hails from.
