A very impressive offering from indie bottler Signatory here for the Symington's Choice range, distilled at Clynelish in 1996.
The whisky was filled into a single Oloroso sherry butt, cask 11383 where it remained for the next 26 years.
Clynelish is known for it's waxy character, which makes it a valuable component of many popular blends, and it can be difficult to find in an official bottling.
It's that same distinctive character that makes it so desired by enthusiasts who seek out independent bottlings such as this gem.
A total of 567 bottles have been bottled for 2023 at 53.4% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is a mature, sophisticated, sweet, salty, burnt caramel brittle with dried fruit jam.
Palate: Similar to the nose, leather notes starts to form with very light baking spices, oak, toffee, hard caramels.
Finish: Long, waves of sweet molasses, oak, toast, red dried fruit peels.
