The Micro Provenance series from Bruichladdich distillery is an exploration into cask evolution, each individually picked by head distiller Adam Hannett to explore the nuances of warehouse location, different oak, cask and micro-climate on the maturing spirit.
The vintage date is 27th June 2012, and it was aged for 10 years in a 2nd Fill Pauillac cask.
This exceptional whisky offers a rare opportunity to taste a unique expression of the Bruichladdich single malt, showcasing the very essence of provenance.
It was distilled using concerto barley with 252 bottles produced, at a strength of 62.4%.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of ripe red fruits, such as blackcurrant and raspberry, with a subtle hint of oak.
Palate: The palate is rich and complex, with flavors of blackberry jam, dark chocolate, and a hint of tobacco, followed by a long, warming finish with notes of leather and spice. The influence of the Pauillac cask is apparent, with a subtle sweetness and a tannic structure that adds depth and complexity to the whisky.
Finish: The mouthfeel is smooth and velvety, with a full body that coats the tongue and leaves a pleasant warmth in the throat.
