Description
A 1973 vintage whisky from Inverleven, a malt distillery that operated from within the Dumbarton grain distillery complex until 1991.
This is part of Chivas Brothers's Deoch an Doras series, roughly translated as 'One for the road', and was bottled in 2011 after maturing for 37 years.
The was the first official bottling released from Inverleven. Their malt hasn't been produced since 1991, making this whisky a great option for any collectors.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Floral overtones and initially relatively minty but mellows with time revealing, with the drop of water, sweet red grapefruit, vanilla and marzipan. Very oak driven.
Palate: Definitely more fruit here, especially grapefruit. There is a slight bitterness of banana peel. Takes water and time.
Finish: Medium to long.
