Description

The classic fresh Arran Malt character with a puff of peat smoke.

The 2018 release of this Single Malt doesn't feature a batch number as it is now a permanent part of the Arran, core range.

On the west coast of the Isle of Arran lies a windswept and mystical peat bog called Machrie Moor.

Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones are strewn across its barren, undulating terrain. One of the stone circles is known as Fingal’s Cauldron Seat, where sits a stone with a carved hole.

The legendary warrior giant Fingal is said to have tethered his favourite dog Bran to this stone.

This peated expression of the Arran Single Malt perfectly captures the rugged beauty and lore of the landscape. Unleash the legend that is Machrie Moor.

Bottles at 46% without chill filtration or added colouring, this peated Arran Single Malt displays all the freshness of the Arran island house style, with an added puff of smoke and earthiness.

Distillery: Arran

Lochranza, Scotland

Production began at Arran’s first distillery in beautiful Lochranza almost 30 years ago.  Many other locations were considered at the time, but the proximity to Loch na Davie provided a rather special source of fresh water for distilling.

Knowing this would hold up in good stead for years to come, a second distillery opened in the south of the island in 2019 at Lagg, where a very unique style of peated single malt is created.

The silver Moor was out of stock so I decided to try this version instead. It has a hint of smoke and vanilla with a slight lemony taste on the nosing. I think Machrie Moor is the malt for me
