Irish Whiskey
There’s always been a fierce debate between the Irish and the Scots regarding the birthplace of whisky. It is believed distillation was first used in Ireland around the 12th century by monks, and although there were many distilleries in Ireland in the past, only three were left by the 1900s. Bushmills distillery was granted the license to distill in 1608, making them the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world.
Typical style: Triple distillation is what makes Irish whiskey a favourite amongst many, offering the spirit a lighter, fruitier, and softer style, making it a great choice for anyone new to whiskey.
Did you know? Irish whiskey was once one of the most popular styles worldwide before its reputation started to suffer due to counterfeits and the decline of the whisky market.
