Description

This is an old bottling of the Glenmorangie Port Wood finish at 70cl and 2 x 5cl of a different finish.

- 1 x Madeira Wood Finish @ 43%

- 1 x Sherry Wood Finish @ 43%

Initially matured in American oak casks, Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish has been racked into selected port “pipes” for the last few years of its maturation.

The whisky has been aged for a full 14 years instead of the usual 12 years.

Dispaced by the Quinta Ruban, this is a special whisky and rare with most other stockists out of stock.

Bottled at a strength of 43%.

This set makes for the perfect collection for whisky collectors!

Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary - please note there is a crease on the front of the box.

Distillery: Glenmorangie

Tain, Scotland

By the tranquil shores of the Dornoch Firth, amidst the golden barley fields of Ross-shire, lies the Glenmorangie Distillery.

The house style of the Glenmorangie distillery is described as particularly floral, light and mild due, at least in part, to the enormous hight of the copper still.

Tasting Notes

Glenmorangie Port Wood:
Nose: Caramel, new oak and freshly cut lemon/lime peels, maple syrup, blackberries, dried cranberries, vanilla and menthol.Palate: Red berries, oak, a rush of cinnamon and nutmeg, blackberry preserve, a bit of dark chocolate covered espresso beans, and walnut oil.Finish: Soft sweet citrus and a slow fade to soft oak tannins, pink Canada Mints, and faint raisins. Glenmorangie Madeira Wood FinisH:
Nose: This is a complex aroma – fresh, but slightly linty; sweet, but with a burnt tangy trace – literally “madeirised”; a trace of wood shavings.Palate: The flavour is “cool” to the palate, but spicy on the tongue; fresh and citrus; sweet as it passes, but with a firm dry finish. The winey flavours are slight and unidentifiable; not as sweet as sherry and with a tangy characteristic. Finish: Sweet as it passes, but with a firm, dry finish. Glenmorangie Sherry Wood Finish:
Nose: Warming spices intertwine together with smooth chocolate covered raisins, honeycomb and caramel toffee.Palate: Deliciously sweet sherried flavoured sultanas, refreshing orange segments, walnuts and butterscotch all combine to create yet more warming spices, this time more complex than the nose.Finish: Long and satisfying with spiced orange and chocolate covered hazelnuts.

I'm not fancy. spending over 50 quid is what I consider fancy. But we all chipped in at work to get this for my boss. He is absolutely over the moon, so it must be good. Never seen him crack a smile before. Clearly glenorangie is the way.
