Description

Launched in late 2008 to replace the previous 12 year old, this single malt from the Dalmore distillery is a toasty, coffee-rich dram with beautifully spice notes and a thick mouthfeel!

The Dalmore 12 year old, with its intricate aromas and flavours is recognised as a whisky with character far beyond its age.

The 12 year old was Andrew Mackenzie's original masterpiece and at the time where it was the norm to mature whisky for six years, Andrew Mackenzie demonstrated his pioneering character by being one of the firsts to double the maturation period and his boldness paid off.

Complex yet balanced, the Dalmore 12 year old is the epitome of the Dalmore house style.

Wood Portrait:
Matured for an initial nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is then divided for it's final flourish where one half remains in the bourbon barrels while the other half is transferred to 30 year old Matusalem oloroso sherry butts before they are reunited to create this phenonenal whisky.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla fudge, thick-cut orange marmalade, sherry and finally a whiff of leather, citrus fruits and aromatic spices.

Palate: Concentrated citrus, oloroso sherry and hints of vanilla pod. Sherry and spice as well as delicate citrus notes.

Finish: Hints of ginger, seville oranges and vanilla. Roasted coffee and chocolate.
